Hello, I'm Rachel.

Based in the North East of England, I'm an independent children's author. My novel Seven: Distracted Detective won the Hachette Children's Novel Award and is published by Aralyn Press.

Previously supported by Arts Council England, I write stories and non-fiction for children and young people. I love writing in response to the world we live in.

The Non-Fiction

My non-fiction proposal is for children aged 9 – 12, and tells the story of key figures in the history of technology.

The Diary

I'm writing a diary-based novel for early teens, because I love reading diaries like Adrian Mole, Wimpy Kid and Bridget Jones.

Flash and short fiction

I'm starting to play around with new writing ideas. Short stories and flash fiction give me opportunities to try out characters and settings.

MY STORY

About Me

My name is Rachel and I’m a writer based in the North East of England. I’m an award-winning children’s novelist, and my writing has been supported by Arts Council England.

I’ve always loved books, and after years of doing bookish things in and out of work, I decided to have another go at writing some of my own. I like writing contemporary stories for children and young people, and non-fiction which explores technology and culture.
